“It is the duty of the deacons to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress. Deacons serve the Lord by conducting the caring ministry of the church-doing the benevolence work, visiting the sick, being alert to the spiritual needs of the congregation-for the purposes of freeing the pastoral staff to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word, promoting unity within the church, and facilitating the spread of the gospel.”
The Diaconate provides assistance and support to the congregation in several ways: administering the Diaconate Benevolence Fund, offering the Financial Peace University program throughout the year, visiting and praying with those in need, providing meals through the Food Angels and coordinating the Food Pantry. We have recently developed a Bereavement Care Program for those who have lost loved ones, and are also able to provide communion visits for those who are unable to attend church due to health or other reasons. If you know of any physical, spiritual or financial needs within our church family such as those mentioned, or if you or someone you know is or will be hospitalized and would like a visit from, or would like to be contacted by a member of the diaconate, please contact either Minda Fowler, church secretary (978-362-2022), or email a deacon at firstname.lastname@example.org .
